On Tuesday evening, the 27-year-old man who held a hostage situation in the Apple Store in the Dutch capital Amsterdam had explosives on his body.
However, they were not up to date, as announced on Wednesday by the Public Prosecution Service, the police and mayor Femke Halsema.
The type of explosives the man was carrying is still under investigation. On Tuesday evening, after the suspect was overpowered, the police reported that the man had no explosives on his body. However, it was said that further investigation into the vest would be carried out.
Nothing is yet known about the motive of the 27-year-old Amsterdammer who took the hostage situation. All options are still open. The suspect is currently injured in hospital. He was hit hard by the Special Interventions Service car when he ran out of the store after the man was held hostage.
The hostage, who has Bulgarian nationality, had to collect the water the suspect had asked for in front of the store. But he suddenly started running. The police then intervened.
