US President Joe Biden and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson are expected to agree to resume travel between the two countries “as soon as possible”.
This is stated in a statement from the British government. At the moment, travel between the countries is limited due to the rules surrounding the coronavirus. American and British airlines do not expect the travel ban to be lifted before July 4.
Biden arrived in the UK on Wednesday evening for his first presidential trip, meeting Johnson in Cornwall on Thursday. The summit of seven leading industrial states (G7) will take place there from Friday to Sunday.
In addition to the United Kingdom, the United States is also in talks with Canada, Mexico and the European Union about resuming travel, which has been shut down for 15 months due to the pandemic.
