Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky visited the United Kingdom on Wednesday. He met British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak there and will also be received by King Charles.
Zelensky visited Ukrainian soldiers who were being trained by the British army. The British will also expand their training program for Ukrainian soldiers and train pilots to use combat aircraft.
According to the British public broadcaster, the Ukrainian president will also give a speech in parliament. “President Zelensky’s visit testifies to the courage, determination and fighting spirit of his country and to the unbreakable friendship amongst our two countries,” said Sunak. King Charles will also receive Zelensky, Buckingham Palace has announced.
It was Zelensky’s second visit abroad since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine almost a year ago. Zelenski already visited the United States in December, where he met with US President Joe Biden, among others.
Zelensky was also due to come to Brussels on Thursday to attend a summit of the heads of state and government of the European Union, but that visit has not yet been officially confirmed.
